The archipelago in the southern Mediterranean, which consists of the three islands of Gozo, Comino and the eponymous main island, I visit last October for the first time. And I'm a little confused because the streets and houses as an idiosyncratic mix of Italy, Greece, North Africa and Spain look like. And people also. Their bizarre language sounds strange and familiar at the same time, sometimes I think to hear even from the Dutch murmur. How well that the official language of Malta, however English.
Before I came here, I was simply annoyed and so cranky that I was a travel weepy at the thought of YET. "I do not want to Malta" I whined in the evening before my departure my friends ears full. I just wanted to stay for a few days at home, my high pulse spare, lounging on the couch and do nothing.Even though my work as a travel blogger hard after dream job looks - sometimes traveling just too much ...
but then just yet: Malta. Quietly the boat is in port, my love traveling bloggers from all over the world have already divided the cabins, I get a little to myself. On deck, wait a cool white wine and some snacks. As a precaution I consider myself somewhat with the alcohol back because I can not estimate whether I get seasick or not.
Feels two days - but in reality only a few hours - later will awake from coffee smell. I slept a whopping nine hours so long no longer UDN deep as been around forever. Gorgeous! Our skipper has come on board. A tall man seebäriger graying hair, tanned skin. He turns to me with droning voice as Steve ago while he puts all sorts of food in the large galley. I see Steve is an amateur cook as well for us. As in the motorhome is also on the boat all incredibly practical. The number of bags of fruit, vegetables, wine, cheese and and and stowed in an instant. The 12-meter yacht with the comic and misleading name "Domination" on which I am going to spend the next few days and nights offers plenty of room and all the comforts you could wish for. Even two shower rooms there is on board - and cabins for at least four people.
When I find out for coffee with scrambled eggs, vitamins and Maltese bread on deck, what will we do the next day, I radiate like the sun in the blue sky. Our program: We will be up on a short trip on Gozo with climbing tour and lunch only on the boat. And sailing. And eat. And sleep. Not more.
This good news, my mood changes from the previous day in Berlin 180 degrees. This is exactly what I need right now! We cast off and glide over the blue sea. The wind brings a fresh breeze that blows through my nose.
The October sun is so strong that we must lotion us. And so I sit the next few days back on the deck, lying like mad at the bow in the sun or jump into one of the most incredible blue bays into the water.
As a puppy, I think over again my nose to the wind, sleep at night like a stone stare for hours at sea. From time to Marry Steve us for a delicious local fish, cooked dinner, we eat salads and fish, drink good wine, listen to music and tell us stories. It is like paradise and especially so different from what I had thought a few days ago.
